The Legend
Randy Couture is the first of only three fighters to hold two championship titles in two different divisions alongside ‘The Prodigy’ B.J. Penn and ‘The Notorious One’ Conor McGregor.
A multi-divisional, three-time Heavyweight Champion, two-time Light Heavyweight Champion, an Interim Light Heavyweight Champion and a Heavyweight Tournament winner – Randy is considered the oldest title holder to have ever competed in MMA, retiring at the age of 47.

Randy Couture is a staple and pillar of Mixed Martial Arts. A proud ex-military man, former Olympic wrestler and an advocate for combat sports in the US.
One could argue he is one of the most recognizable faces of MMA, alongside other legends like Royce Gracie, Mark Coleman, Bas Rutten, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Chuck Liddel, Matt Hughes, Dan Henderson, Fedor Emelienko, and even Dana White himself [although he’s not a fighter].
Fighting Style
Bringing his wrestling pedigree into the mix combined with striking techniques giving him an edge over top contenders of the time. ‘The Natural’ revolutionized how the cage could be used, pushing his opponents against it, grinding them out with some dirty boxing until he managed a takedown to ground and pound his opponents to victory.
His past and age also earned him names such as ‘Captain America’ [from being an ex-military man] and ‘Father Time’ [for being the oldest competing fighter at the time] his victories over other legends, and then, P4P fighters of the world.
Notable wins
Vitor Belfort – upsetting a young and hungry Vitor Belfort in a match that everyone expected Randy to lose.
Maurice Smith – winning the heavyweight title the first time around.
Kevin Randleman – after vacating his title, competing in other organizations, Couture came back defeat the champ to once again become the heavyweight title holder.
Pedro Rizzo – defended heavyweight title TWICE against Pedro after competing in other organizations.
Chuck Liddel – one of the most memorable rivalries of all time where Randy won the first interim light heavy weight title.
Tito Ortiz – Unified the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight titles of the world by beating the one everyone thought unbeatable – Tito Ortiz.
Vitor Belfort – Beat Vitor in two matches, losing his belt, and regaining it right after.
Tim Sylvia – After losing his title to Chuck Liddel, he moved back to Heavyweight to take on the giant Tim Sylvia, winning and regaining the best again.
James Toney – one of the first boxing to MMA cross overs where Randy Couture dominated the legendary boxer in decisive fashion.
